The Nordsea

The dunes start about 400 meters from the "De Witte Villa" and after a short walk you will be at the Nordsea beach with plenty opportunities for entertainment and leisure.

In the dunes and flower fields you will find beautiful walking- and bike trails.
If you like bird watching you are at the right place:
At the nature reserves (free entry) het Zwanenwater near Callantsoog and the Putten near Camperduin you can spot lots of beautiful birds.
Also the mud plates in the sea near Balgzand (“schorren” in Dutch) are a paradise for birds.

Opposite of the "De Witte Villa" you find holiday park Ooghduyne where it is possible to use their swimmingpool and golfcourse.
If you are in the mood for horseback riding, you can rent a horse (or pony) at Manege Noot, which is at 200 meter walking distance.
Close by a nice bike and canoe trail starts running trough the agricultural fields.
If you are fond of fishing you have plenty of possibilities. Sea fishing on the beach of with a coaster from Den Helder. Freshwater fishing can be done in the channels nearby the "De Witte Villa".

At Paal zes on the beach you can wine and dine the whole year through whilst overlooking the sea.
For your daily shopping there is a shopping centre at 700m – in Julianadorp. For more shopping you can go to Den Helder, Schagen and Callantsoog which are close by.
During the summer you can visit the Juttersmarket in Den Helder and the famous Cheesemarket (Dutch: kaasmarkt) in Alkmaar.

At the former navy shipyard in Den Helder you can visit – among other things - ships and a submarine.
In Huisduinen, a former fishing village near Den Helder, you find the Fort Kijkduin with a great underwater aquarium and museum and also the biggest lighthouse of Europe; the Lange Jaap which is 63 m high.
The island of Texel is easy to visit with the ferry from Den Helder. With the bike the crossing is only a few Euro for a magnificent tour on the island.
